Initially employed in July 2009 as Home Manager for a 45 bed Care Home for Older People in West Sussex – with a view to preparing it for dual registration to include up to 15 Nursing beds. Then, in December 2009, commenced as Regional Manager for a region covering 8 care homes across Sussex and Kent. These homes cover a wide range of care groups including residential and nursing care for older physically frail people and older people with dementia. In July 2010, I decided to cease the Regional Manager role to become a Peripatetic Manager. This involves troubleshooting, support and stepping in to potentially difficult situations in order to resolve any problematic issues.

Nursing for older people with dementia in West Sussex. Employment commenced 3/1/06. In September 2006, I was asked if I would be interested in taking over as Home Manager at a challenging Home in Stockwell/Brixton. I commenced as Home Manager there in December 2006. This is a 60 bed Home for adults I was initially employed as Home Manager at a 47 bed Specialist Care Home with with mental health needs and adults with physical disabilities. Then in February, 2008, I was asked if I would manage a large home in West Sussex. This is a 120 bed Home with four 30 bed units. 60 beds are nursing beds for the older physically frail person, 60 beds are for older people with dementia – 30 are residential, 30 are nursing.

Initially facilitating, leading & developing best practice in person-centred care for older people with mental health needs specifically in two nursing homes. Development support & training delivery for best practice in person-centred care throughout the organisation. Act as key support for staff throughout the organisation involved in a person-centred care training programme produced in partnership with Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling and based upon the work of the Bradford Dementia Group, University of Bradford. Registered Manager in charge of Hollybush House, Stourbridge, West Midlands with 24 hour continuing responsibility for this 24 bed Home for Older People with Dementia. At the beginning of 2005, I was asked by Shaw Healthcare to take over the Home Manager role at a struggling home in Evesham. This coincided with a time when I was looking to move from the West Midlands to Sussex. Over 2005, this Home turned from a failing home to a successful one.
